The Gepetto of Footwear
We’re not lying. Sanuk founder Jeff Kelley should be hailed as the Inventor of the Decade. Seriously. After discovering the Sidewalk Surfer and sharing it with the world? How can he not be?! He practically saved all of our feet from extinction.
A surfer dude by nature, Kelley hails from Huntington Beach in California and has been a lover of one-of-a-kind footwear since he was young. “I was always wearing shoes that nobody else had,” said Kelley. His trademark was funny shoes. Well, look who’s laughing now?
They say necessity is the mother of invention. Let’s call Kelley the father, shall we? Honored as the Footwear Idol of the Year for 2008, the Sanuk (it’s pronounced Sanook by the way) founder also appropriately looks up to Albert Einstein. “Imagination is more important than intelligence” is an Einstein saying that he lives by.
